Hendy Woods Camping Trip

happy baby in the forest

Andy and I have been camping at Hendy Woods State Park for years in the Anderson Valley. In fact, since Brandon and Adrien were married about 6 or 7 years ago. We love Hendy Woods, we used to go regularly for my birthday (dubbed Amberson Valley) or Andy or Davey's birthday. This camping trip was the first in a very long time it was just Andy and I (and Alpin).

Since Labor Day marks the end of summer for some folks, and we had an extra day off, we decided to set out on potentially our last camping trip of the season with Alpin. Funny, we arrived on Labor Day, and there were literally only about 6 campsites occupied, compared to a full campground the night before. It was almost surreal how empty the camp was, but we weren't complaining. We lucked out with the weather as well, it was super warm during the day and at night. I only put on a long sleeve shirt once.

Camping with Alpin now that he is crawling is so much fun. We plopped him in the tent and he would have so much fun crawling around on all the pads and exploring everything. He also would go straight for handfuls of dirt outside the tent door. Not to mention loving the texture of the bumpy foam pad. He still slept great on his sleeping pad between us on the tent. He's a little camper in training for sure.

We played a round of disc golf at Anderson Valley Brewing Company, with Alpin in the Bob stroller. We also did a beautiful hike through the redwoods in the Hendy Woods grove. It's embarrassing we have never done that hike in all the times we have camped at Hendy, but are so glad we took the time to do it this last trip. We also enjoyed tasting wine at a few new wineries, and picked up delicious produce at the farm stands nearby. Everyone in the Booneville area is so nice, it has such a small town feel, because it is a very small town. We just wished we had more than 2 days to play.
